Enter, if you dare, into a world of secret rituals and irresistible eroticism. The journey you will embark on in this place will take you to levels of dark sensuality that you have never dreamed possible. But do no run headlong into the shadowy corridors you will find here. There are also caverns of lust and pain, poised to trap the unwary traveler. The story is as old as time itself and as new as a startling idea. It began long ago and even today, not all things are as they appear to be.

There was a time when the Théâtre du Grand Guignol reigned supreme as a shameful and dirty secret hidden in plain site among the brothels and bars of Montmartre. It  was for decades one of the greatest tourist attractions of all Paris.

Each night for sixty-five years, the Grand Guignol titillated and terrified audiences drawn from every segment of society. The pimps and petty-thieves of the Sacré-Coeur church shared benches with the crowned heads of Europe including the King of Greece, Princess Wilhemina of Holland, King Carol of Rumania, the children of the Sultan of Morocco and Ho Chi Minh among others. The theatre was founded in 1897 and presented bloody and grotesque tableaus for more than 65 years. Their inspiration for the dramas were the real life stories of criminals, rapists and murderers and underground rumors have persisted for decades that certain of the vignettes were real. For more than six decades the stories presented here shocked and horrified untold thousands. It has been said that some of the victim were actual criminals who had been tried and convicted by a private court and whose punishment was meted out in full public view on the stage of the Grand Guignol.

Could this be true? Could it be that an underground system of justice has been with us for hundreds or maybe even thousands of years. Journey with us now into the secret and frightening world of the Grand Guignol and wonder with us about the reality of the scenes you are about to witness.
